                                                About "Patriot Family"

Beginning in 2009, the Patrick Henry football coaching staff began introducing a new team culture centered on the concept of "Patriot Family" as a means of creating loyalty, improving work ethic, and drawing the players and coaches closer.  Darren Shanks, a freshman player in 2009, became an instant leader as he embodied the concept when his "Make-a-Wish" request was for the team to receive new uniforms.

Everyone who participates in Patriot Football  as an athlete, parent, or coach is expected to not only support the idea of the "family" culture, but to also maximize the positive cultural effects of the concept by living out the ideals whenever around the team, the coaches, or serving as a booster.

                                                Stand-up Parents Needed!!!

Quite frankly, we need your help.

Most parents probably don't remember they already agreed, when they signed their son up, to help support the football program with their time.  We understand.  "Forgetting things" can happen, but please be reminded now.  We can't have a dozen parents carrying the load meant for 200.  The mantra the players keep hearing and believing is that we are a football family.  We teach them to do their job and count on others to do theirs.  As parents we need to emulate this ourselves.  The funny thing about helping is that it isn't so much work as much as it is finding friends.  When parents pitch in to help, they become better acquainted with each other, and when they arrive in the stands, instead of sitting with strangers, they are sitting with friends and sharing in the victories and losses together.

Despite not having a field at Henry for home games, we still are hosting "HOME" games at other sites.  When we host home games CIF rules say we need to supply volunteers for the "Chain Gang" that holds the down marker and ten-yard chain posts.  It is a great way to help.  It is easy, fun, and you get to see the whole game up close.

We need three parents to volunteer for the JV game on October 28th (4:00pm) and we need three parents to help at the Varsity game (6:30pm), also on on October 28th.   If you can help on the chain gang, then please contact Jill Garcia-Pankow.

If you can't help on the chain gang, then please contact Jill Garcia-Pankow to help in another way.

Thank you for being stand-up parents!
